Responsibilities

Full understanding of HIS, RIS, PACS to include ordering, monitoring workings, validation of images and completing studies
Ability to organize relative patient information, reports, and images (including priors) for interpretation
Interviews patients for relevant medical history, explains exams and assists patients
Interviews patients to obtain a complete MRI Safety/Implant history. Cross references implant with known devices databases. Reports any safety issues to the attending radiologist for determination of MR eligibility
Produces images which demonstrate a thorough knowledge of MRI imaging as well as established imaging protocols
Follows MRI safety protocols and policies
Demonstrates ability to operate power injector system
Identifies all patients using two patient identifiers (name and birth date)
Demonstrates caring, excellence, leadership, pride, teamwork, integrity and center wide standards for service
Provides all aspects of patient care based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment of the patients
Knows the general condition of the equipment at all times, knows how to operate all equipment required in the course of performing procedures. Documents and reports failures in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures
Recognizes normal and abnormal image findings and reports to supervisor or radiologist
Maintains proper stock of medical and clerical supplies
Assists with rotating supplies and linen
Starts and removes IV’s for exams
Escorting patients to exam/procedure rooms. Observes, records and reports patients conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to providers

Required

High School or GED required
Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program/Magnetic Resonance Imaging/Nuclear Medicine/Radiation Therapy/Sonography Program in approved school
Registered with ARRT in Radiography (R) or ARMRIT (MRI) within one year of employment
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Preferred

Minimum 1 year experience as MRI Technologist preferred
