Akkodis is seeking a remote full-time Sr. Electrical Engineer specializing in Facilities Power Distribution to oversee the design and implementation of low voltage power distribution systems for signal processing data centers. The role involves project management, technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

Overseeing every aspect of design, construction, acceptance testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of power distribution, protection, and generation

Project design and implementation of repairing or replacing existing systems. May be expected to take the technical lead in the implementation of smaller projects involving research and coordinating with subcontractors to achieve project milestones

Understanding of power distribution, protection, and generation to ensure safety of equipment, operations, and personnel. This includes creating arc flash evaluations and short-circuit studies to identify power system is up to date with NFPA 70E. Coordination and Time Current Curves evaluations are also expected within the role

Capability to troubleshoot unexpected unknowns during a modification project. Should be able to read, understand, and mark-up wiring diagrams, schematics, and documentation to record how the system was modified or as-built

Provides technical assistance and guidance to all operations and maintenance personnel for issues on power systems

Ensure new power system deliveries are compatible with existing building infrastructure and codes while identifying equipment spares and product obsolescence

Supports the DSN Engineering Change Management Board in the development, evaluation and costing of Engineering Change Requests, the preparation and delivery of Engineering Change Orders or Modification Kits, and the troubleshooting, resolution and closure of Discrepancy Reports

Working knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, NETA, and other relevant codes/standards

Identify the lead times for major electrical equipment to ensure project success. Identify and eliminate the single point of failure distribution points within the subsystem

Possess solid oral and written communications skills, and a working knowledge of MS Office Suite. Presentation skills are a must have!

Required

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power engineering

7+ years of facility power distribution design with a concentration on low voltage

Project management experience

Some field experience

Experience with commissioning power equipment such as ATS, UPS, Switchgear, PLC's, and Generators

Able to multi-task and able to quickly adapt to change

Highly analytical

Solid oral and written communications skills

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite

Presentation skills

Preferred

A California Professional Engineering (PE) License is preferred

Willing to renew license

Can attain a new license within 1 year of employment on the team
