6+ years expATCS is growing and seeking a Responsible Charge Engineer to join their Construction Services team in Newport News. The role involves overseeing major transportation projects during the construction phase, ensuring compliance, safety, and quality in all aspects of project execution.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the direct and personal supervision of engineering activities during construction
Ensure projects are constructed in strict accordance with contract documents and specifications
Maintain comprehensive documentation to demonstrate compliance with:
Project requirements
Applicable federal and state regulations
Safety and environmental standards
Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including VDOT staff, local government agencies, consultants and the public
Prepare project correspondence and progress reports for client approval and support project meetings
Provide timely and articulate communication between necessary parties that furthers the project and helps meet client’s goals
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field is required
Professional Engineer's license is required, preferably in VA. Will consider other states with the commitment of obtaining a Virginia PE within 6 months of starting employment
Minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation construction projects, preferably in VA
Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT and regional design standards, practices and policies
Excellent oral, written, communication and organizational skills
Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and construction management software
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
