Substation Engineering Internship
Mesa Associates, Inc is seeking a talented engineering student for a Substation Engineering Internship. The successful candidate will learn substation design and gain experience in a professional environment while performing drafting activities and assisting engineers and designers.

Responsibilities
Perform 2D drafting activities for designers and engineers
Create 3D parts and assemblies in various CAD programs
Redraw raster images to native CAD programs
The successful candidate may be asked to lead small drafting intensive projects
Occasionally performs non-technical drafting support for assigned projects, utilizing various computer aided design technology
Assigned basic, routine drafting work with few technical items requiring resolution
Learn and apply basic design concepts for entry level substation projects
Responsible for back checking own work to minimize rework
The ideal candidate will become proficient in understanding assigned drawings and will eventually progress to drawing creation and design
May occasionally assist engineers and designers with various administrative functions
Attend a site visit to see the workings of a substation in person
The successful candidate will be expected to work 30+ hours per week during the Summer of 2026. Possibilities for part-time work the following semester exist!
Qualification
Required
Detail oriented
Hardworking engineering student
Ability to learn substation design
Self-starter that loves to learn CAD software
Takes ownership and pride in producing high quality, error-free CAD work
Ability to perform 2D drafting activities for designers and engineers
Ability to create 3D parts and assemblies in various CAD programs
Ability to redraw raster images to native CAD programs
Ability to lead small drafting intensive projects
Ability to perform non-technical drafting support for assigned projects
Ability to perform basic, routine drafting work with few technical items requiring resolution
Ability to learn and apply basic design concepts for entry level substation projects

Preferred
Experience in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Inventor, and Microsoft Office products
