Responsibilities

Conceptual designs and execution plans
Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules
Physical substation design including yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of material
Shielding and lighting design
General Arrangement drawings and section views for open-air substations
Calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
Equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing
Lead coordination of design activities with other departments (Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, etc.)
Develop and improve processes, tools, and/or technology implementations
Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
Perform quality reviews for other engineers and designers
Provide short-term field support during construction
Support business development and marketing initiatives
Other areas of involvement may include relay settings, 3D modeling/design, or industry/professional technical committee involvement
Preparation of site plans including KMZ files and georeferenced CAD files

Qualification

Electrical Engineering DegreeProfessional Engineer RegistrationNational Electrical Safety CodeIEEE / ANSI StandardsAnalytical SkillsWritten CommunicationVerbal CommunicationCritical ThinkingProblem Solving

Required

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from accredited program
5 - 8 years related experience (completion of master's degree in related field substituted for one year of experience)
Proficiency with the National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standard

Preferred

Professional Engineer registration strongly preferred
Excellent written - verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria
