Responsibilities

The Assistant will help with Talent Development’s mission to grow the talents of JMU's employees, primarily by supporting workshops
This includes providing room setup and breakdown, greeting participants, giving opening announcements, and preparing administrative tasks associated with training workshops, including printing handouts, room signage, and setting up materials
Additional duties will be assigned as needed and may include phone support for the department, assisting with marketing efforts, research, and proofreading
Outstanding customer service for internal and external customers and strong communication skills are necessary
The Assistant may also have opportunities to contribute to other TD projects based on their specific strengths and abilities

Required

Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks while maintaining attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrate a high degree of customer service insight and professionalism
Ability to work well with employees from all staffing levels
Dependability
Must be Federal Work Study eligible
Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate)
