Diagnostic Laboratory Technologists - Keystone Animal Diagnostic Center

Penn State University is establishing the Keystone Animal Diagnostic Center (KADC) at the Beaver Campus in Monaca, PA, and is seeking Diagnostic Laboratory Technologists. In this role, you will provide diagnostic and support services, including processing specimens and conducting various tests while ensuring quality assurance and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

Receive and process livestock and poultry specimens and samples submitted by veterinarians, farmers, and other clients
Perform benchtop testing such as serology, molecular diagnostics, parasitology, and others, adhering to strict standard operating procedures
Identify, and work with the section head to address, any non-conforming test results
Enter test results in the Laboratory Information Management System for reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Ensure that the laboratory equipment is appropriately maintained and functioning correctly
Follow quality assurance protocols and participate in trainings, proficiency testing, and certifications, to ensure the integrity of the diagnostic results
Maintain an adequate inventory of testing supplies to address normal and surge capacity needs

Required

Associate Degree
No prior relevant work experience required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
Rabies vaccination and biennial titer checks are strongly recommended and will be covered by the laboratory
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S

Preferred

Relevant experience in a clinical/diagnostic laboratory, or a research laboratory setting
A Bachelor and/or a graduate degree in the life sciences, biology, or a related field
