Senior Mortgage Underwriter
Shore United Bank is seeking a full-time Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. This role involves assessing borrowers' financial positions to evaluate credit risk, managing loan applications to meet service level agreements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and bank standards.

Responsibilities
Analyzes current financial position of borrowers to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit. Makes decisions to approve, deny, or forward the loan request to a higher level for a decision
Monitors work queue to ensure loan applications are reviewed and underwritten in an acceptable time period and meets the SLA’s (service level agreements) set forth for each loan product type
Collaborates with Sales, Operations, and Closing to provide exceptional internal and external customer service
Has detailed understanding of Agency products FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA/USDA
Credit and collateral underwriting of FHA, VA, Conventional, VA SAR, CDA, USDA and Portfolio mortgage loans with a high degree of attention to detail
Perform income analysis which includes reviewing self-employment income for those borrowers with Schedule C, 1065, 1120 and/or 1120S
Demonstrate ability to mentor peers in skill development
Develops, maintains, and demonstrates a working knowledge of bank mortgage loan standards, policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal government rules
Underwrites all residential mortgage loans with compliance of Regulation Z-ATR and QM requirements
Maintain certifications in FHA, VA, and USDA underwriting
Abide by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace
Cooperate with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, SAFE Act, etc.; ensures that the office and all personnel adhere to the same
Participate in required training sessions, including training for compliance with BSA/AML policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED equivalent
Minimum of five years' experience underwriting mortgage loans
Working Knowledge of AUS, DU and GUS
Must currently have LAPP and DE certifications
Excellent working knowledge of all consumer and mortgage related regulatory requirements, including but not limited to: BSA, Reg B-ECOA, Reg C-HMDA, Dodd-Frank, Reg X-RESPA, Reg Z-TILA, SCRA, and UDAAP
Mortgage Credit regulatory knowledge and training
Preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in residential mortgage underwriting/credit preferred
