Mission Foods is seeking a Corporate Counsel, Contracts, to support the Company in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts. The role involves managing all stages of the contract negotiation process and providing internal support for various legal matters.

Responsibilities

Negotiate, draft, review, and revise contractual documents

Perform contract negotiations directly with customers and suppliers and support stakeholders during negotiations

Coordinate contractual review with the appropriate cross-functional leadership in a variety of areas, such as procurement, sales, tax, engineering, finance, risk management, and human resources

Identify and mitigate all business and legal risks in prospective and existing contracts and ensure the necessary internal approvals from management have been obtained

Study statutes, legal opinions, regulations, and ordinances to keep abreast of changes in the law and advise the Company accordingly

Advise Company on general regulatory compliance issues

Perform internal investigations and provide internal support to various departments

Manage outside counsel where appropriate, including strategy and tracking of trends, costs, and fees

Perform other duties as assigned

Required

JD degree (or equivalent)

Admission to a state bar

3 or more years' experience at a law firm or as in-house counsel negotiating, drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts

Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow

Excellent negotiating and persuasive skills, both in one-on-one and group situations

Ability to perform multiple assignments simultaneously and to organize and prioritize job duties effectively with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment

Ability to research compliance issues relating to applicable laws and regulations and formulate recommendations to management

Experience in applying corporate policies and standards in a variety of contractual contexts

Business acumen with the ability to recognize risk elements in business transactions and to understand the products or services that are the subject matter of a contract

Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and functions

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
