InternTrinity River Authority of Texas is seeking a Water Careers Education Intern, primarily aimed at high school students enrolled in the Arlington Independent School District’s Water Careers Education course. The intern will assist in various projects related to wastewater treatment, lab safety, and general office tasks while gaining hands-on experience in the water supply and wastewater systems.

Responsibilities
Observe and assist in a variety of situations, projects, and assignments
Learn about wastewater treatment, including sources and pretreatment of domestic wastes and characteristics of wastewater
Gain experience and knowledge associated with a job working with collection systems, lift stations, preliminary treatment, and flow measurements
Gain knowledge in sedimentation, biological treatment, and activated sludge
Receive training in wastewater plant safety and have the opportunity to observe and possibly participate in water sampling and testing procedures
Develop training that supports the growth of TRA’s staff
Use technologies including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, SharePoint, and learning management software
Explore a variety of topics related to TRA drinking water and wastewater systems, public agency governance, and engineering contracts
Perform general administrative work, such as filing, sorting, analyzing information, and reporting
Shadow laboratory technicians and operations staff, and observe maintenance staff at various sites
Qualification
Required
Current high school student enrolled in the Arlington Independent School District's Water Careers Education course/internship program
Valid Texas driver's license
Must have good attention to detail and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
