SPP-PHARMACY TECH I - Part time
University of Michigan Health-Sparrow is a healthcare provider seeking a Pharmacy Technician I to assist pharmacists with various technical tasks related to dispensing and billing medications. Responsibilities
Accurate and complete sending and receiving of all drug product orders in all computer ordering systems
Processes prescriptions accurately, following established dispensing policies and procedures, including store transfers
Accurately electronically scan dispensed product with every prescription order dispensed
Knowledgeable in insurance billing for accuracy and compliance with all standing regulations
Knowledgeable in printing and utilization of reports that provide support in any business function
Aids in store inventory preparation
Serves as a positive representative of the Pharmacy to all department customers. Displays responsibility in helping to provide quality, compassionate, cost-effective pharmaceutical care to all customers. Is aware of the department’s overall goals and objectives and works to promote and support these goals. Participates in quality improvement activities in the department
Performs work within specified time frames. Works cooperatively with the other members of the Pharmacy team to provide accurate and efficient service to department customers. Fosters a team environment; willingly and cheerfully assists other Pharmacy Associates as the workload and staffing requires. Voices concerns and suggestions to the appropriate person in the appropriate manner. Adapts positively to frequent interruptions and change in workload and/or work schedule
Compounding of Non-sterile medications up to and including Moderate Compounding as defined by USP. Compounding caregivers adhere to the prescription or medical order for the strength, quality and purity of compounding preparations. Compounded products are packaged, labeled and dispensed according to current laws and regulations
Qualification
Required
Must be fully licensed in the state of Michigan as a Pharmacy Technician
Minimum of 1 year experience as a pharmacy technician
High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program
Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software programs
Demonstrated excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Demonstrated ability to work with ever-changing priorities and deadlines
Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job
Preferred
Two years college experience
Retail pharmacy experience
Completion of a pharmacy technician program
