Responsibilities

Provide technical product-process support to plants. Ensure the constant improvement of quality (performance) of existing products, improvement of production systems and maximizing the utilization of raw materials. Individual will have responsibility over 2-3 plants in the Saputo network while based in Wisconsin. Technical support will be focused on blue cheese, hard Italian and goat cheese

Develop recipes for new products/customers for specific business needs. Modify current recipes to meet application requirements and provide sales/marketing/operations with specifications needed to make and sell the new product

Partner with cross functional partners (Marketing, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, QA etc.) to ensure an efficient and successful product launch or enhancement of new or existing products. Manage portions of the execution that are related to product formulation or production processes. Lead complex new product development and supports current product improvement

Plan, run, and monitor plant trials, and train more junior scientists to conduct plant trials. Document findings and share trial reports with key stakeholders

Cultivate and develop vendor relationships to secure the necessary ingredients and new technologies needed to meet business objectives

Assist with the development of cheesemakers at plants and coach and assist with the development of junior R&D/technical service teammates

Capable of bench-top trials and scaling to plant environment

Capable of working independently and part of the team

Excellent data analysis, generate reports and communicate research findings to Team and Management

Review Financial reports with plants and make recommendations on variations noted by providing support on testing validations, fluid losses and recoups/yields

Ensure coordination and supervise the execution in the plant of new process technologies tests and new manufacturing capabilities potentially impacting the quality of products

Collaborate with technical bodies (University, vendors, equipment suppliers, culture suppliers) in the design of new manufacturing equipment or modifications of existing ones

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science plus 5 years of related cheese manufacturing experience or a Master's in Food Science with minimally 3 years of related experience

Hands-on cheese industry experience in Research & Development (R&D), innovation/product development, raw materials efficiency, production process or technical services (TS) development roles

Successful track record and proven experience in product/process development from plant trials (testing, findings, reporting outcome & making recommendations) to successful execution to market

Result oriented with strong passion for creativity and innovation within a complex driven environment

Dynamic, flexible, proactive approach and ability to work effectively in high - pressure situations within strict deadlines

Strives for high standards, seeks innovative solutions, drives continuous improvement of ingredients, semi-finished and finish products, processes and demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence with integrity through persuasive communication to win support at senior levels within R&D and across various functional areas

Strong people and project management skills to effectively and efficiently drive a complex program

Excellent Excel and PowerPoint experience

Ability to travel up to 35-40% to other Wisconsin cheese manufacturing plants to meet business needs

Preferred

Familiarity with SAP Architecture is a plus
