Hearst Magazines is looking for an IT Specialist to join their station. The IT Specialist will oversee IT operations, perform daily maintenance on various systems, and provide user support in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Support user needs across all departments, including News, Creative Services, Sales and Administration

Maintain imaging machines, updating firmware and managing hardware inventory

Assist the IT Manager with IT systems upgrades and new platform deployments

Assist the Engineering Team with support, upgrading, and deployment of broadcast systems. Including Master Control and Production systems. (Florical, Bitcentral, ENPS, Weather, etc.)

Provide technical guidance to end-users and mobile device support

Maintain LAN/IT infrastructure, installation and support of network hardware and software

Occasional travel to news bureau, transmitter and translator locations

Analyze and implement corporate data back-up, disaster recovery and security procedure

Manage hardware inventory, replacement cycle and deployment

Qualification

Required

Working knowledge of managed network switches and architecture concepts

Prior experience with a large user base

Experience with networked, stand-alone printers and digital copiers

Enterprise and web-based applications

VPN, Cisco equipment, TCP/IP and subnets, NAS, LAN Management

Communications skills and customer-service attitude

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems

Higher education in technology, SBE certification or related military experience will be considered

Must have a willingness to learn and manage new systems

Must possess a positive attitude and driven by successful problem solving

Able to sit or stand for long periods of time

Preferred

VMWare, Cisco or Microsoft certifications preferred

Experience in the television broadcast setting preferred
