Food & Wine Reporting Intern, Summer 2026

Hearst Magazines is seeking a reporting intern for the San Francisco Chronicle to cover the Bay Area’s dynamic dining and drinking scene. The intern will receive training and mentoring while reporting on restaurant and bar openings and engaging readers through various media forms.

Responsibilities

Receive training and mentoring from editors and colleagues across departments
Work and train within a cohort of more than a dozen summer interns
Report and write news articles for the Chronicle and SFChronicle.com that reflect the diversity of experiences and coverage of the Bay Area’s restaurant, bar and winery scene

Required

All college students, including community college students or students who will have recently completed their associate or bachelor's degree, are encouraged to apply
Strong writing skills are important, as is a strict dedication to accuracy, fairness and inclusiveness
Someone eager to find and chase good stories while engaging readers through compelling headlines, visuals, graphics and other multimedia

Preferred
