SCH SLEEP LAB TECH

University of Michigan Health-Sparrow is seeking a Sleep Lab Technician to provide a wide variety of sleep diagnostic techniques for evaluating sleep disorders. The role involves performing diagnostic procedures on patients of all ages, overseeing laboratory functions, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

Perform Sleep Diagnostic procedure on pediatric patients, adults and geriatric patients for evaluation of a variety of sleep disorders. Instruct patients, operate equipment, obtain data, analyze data, and prepare appropriate data for physician interpretation
Assist in the training and development and marketing of new programs and procedures. Prepare written procedures and project proposals
Oversee the day-to-day technical function of the Sleep laboratory. Confer with physicians and other sleep technicians regarding lab related issues
Assess equipment needs and prepares equipment for the Sleep laboratory. Responsible for equipment maintenance, stocking supplies, and maintenance of a neat/professional work site
Maintains knowledge of current diagnostic techniques and professional field
Assumes general responsibility for positive client relations and other efforts to meet community needs
Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures
Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information
Maintains and protects patients rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards
Performs additional job related duties as requested

Required

Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registered Polysomnographer
Completes Sleep credentialing process within 1 year of job
2-3 years clinical Polysomnography experience or equivalent
Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his/her assigned service area as related to the principle duties and responsibilities of the position
Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve
