Apple is looking for a motivated electrical engineer to drive the design of next generation touch sensors. The role involves owning the design and implementation of touch sensors, building models to understand key tradeoffs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver sensor module solutions.

Responsibilities

Design of sensor modules, including electro-magnetic modeling and circuit modeling
Support of End-to-End system definition and development (sensor, signal processing, ASIC performance, algorithm development)
Scoping of new sensor technologies and support of proof-of-concept investigations
Collaboration with several different technology teams to evaluate system design options and trade-offs
Review and define algorithms for signal and noise conditioning requirements
Optimization of designs across multidisciplinary boundaries (Mechanical, materials, process, algorithms, calibration, testing, reliability, factory operations)
Performing failure-mode analysis and root-cause analysis using system-level problem solving and statistical data analysis
Support of new product definition through engineering analysis, market surveys and competitive analysis
Business travel to support product development

Required

BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
Strong analog/mixed-signal/electro-magnetic fundamentals

Preferred

Ph.D or Masters degree in electrical engineering (or related field)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Solid teamwork and leadership skills
Hands-on experience with system-level design
Proficiency in FEA (Comsol, ANSYS, Maxwell), MATLAB, Python, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools
