Mechanical Design Engineer

Willoughby Industries, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop new products for market introduction. The role involves creating 3D models, maintaining production drawings, and implementing improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and quality control.

Manufacturing

Responsibilities

Design and develop new products to bring to market
Create 3D model content
Produce and maintain production drawings
Assist with creation of operations manuals
Set up part numbers, bill of material and shop floor routers as required
Implement and review procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process
Analyze current production procedures and standards to identify inefficiencies
Provide management with data and statistics to enable management to understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process
Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency
Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control
Revise procedures by analyzing operating practices and implementing changes as required
Meet or exceed department productivity goals as set by management
Maintain professional and technical knowledge required to perform all job functions
Maintain safe and clean work environment
Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures by educating and directing employees on the use of equipment and resources
Communicate with other employees and departments about work related processes
Update information in Global Shop as necessary
Perform additional related duties as required

Plan production including prioritizing jobs and manpower to complete jobs on schedule
Ability to identify areas of process improvement
Ability to communicate job expectations, monitor and appraise results
Ability to effectively coach and counsel employees on performance and behavioral issues
Proficient on Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Reader
Ability to interview candidates and hire based on the values and skills the company requires
Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
Constant standing and walking
Frequent bending and stooping
Clean work environment
Must submit to pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
Ability to lead others for successful performance of their positions
Make decisions based on experience and available data
Require minimal supervision to complete work and meet deadlines
Strives to meet or exceed job requirements
Ability to work well with others

Preferred

Mechanical Engineering or Design degree (AS/BS) preferred
Previous experience in a Product Design role a plus
Previous supervisor experience a plus
Experience prioritizing workload and staff assignments
Solidworks/AutoCAD experience
