Mechanical Composites Engineer, Sr.

Centrus Energy Corp. is focused on supporting composite components and assemblies in the Centrifuge Project. The Senior Mechanical Composites Engineer will lead design, fabrication, and testing of composite parts while ensuring compliance with company standards and managing project deliverables.

Responsibilities

Act as the lead engineer for composite part design, fabrication and test
Assist in designing, building, and troubleshooting the following
High vacuum systems
Helium leak detection equipment
Machined parts and assemblies
Assist in design and analysis of structural and dynamic systems
Design manufacturing equipment as needed for manufacturing activities
Develop specifications for fabricated materials and equipment
Assist in the creation, review, and approval of engineering packages to be used for fabrication
Establish procedures for assembly and repair of fabricated components
Drive process improvement activities for internal activities and external suppliers
Manage multiple priorities and ensure that deliverables are met within schedule and budget
Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements
Contribute to cross functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, operations, testing, quality and purchasing

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
7+ years of experience in a professional environment designing and manufacturing large composite parts
a master's may be used to substitute for 2 years' experience

Preferred

Experience using FEA (Ansys experience is a plus)
Masters degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
5+ years CAD experience (SolidWorks experience a plus)
Experience with lean manufacturing
Project Management experience
Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE Q-level security clearance
Centrifuge design, test, and/or manufacturing experience is a plus
Experience with QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems
