Supervising Attorney

Responsibilities

Direct Legal Services - prepare applications, briefs, supporting documentation and analyze criminal disposition
Assess client eligibility for a range of immigration relief, such as naturalization, DACA renewal, etc
Supervise, mentor, and support attorneys, DOJ-accredited representatives, fellows, and legal assistants
Oversee workflows, caseload distribution and case quality to ensure compliance with immigration law, ethical obligations and organizational policies
Support the preparation and submission of grant reports and other required documentation
Collaborate with Directing Attorneys to maximize program impact, efficiency and case output
Contribute to fundraising efforts, including providing data, client stories, and legal insight
Travel regularly to court hearings, workshops, UFW Foundation service centers and trainings
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

Juris Doctor and three more years or more of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Licensed attorney in good standing
3 to 5 years of immigration relief services
Previous experience working with the Latino Community
Valid driver's license, access to an automobile, insurance and willingness to drive to off-site locations
A genuine interest in immigrant and farm worker rights
A deep understanding of issues facing immigrant populations in California and the USA
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Flexibility, Speed, and Precision. Ability to adjust quickly to constantly changing priorities with speed, precision, and accuracy
