Associate Director of Development
El Buen Samaritano is a trusted community resource for Latino and immigrant families in Central Texas, serving over 30,000 individuals annually. They are seeking an Associate Director of Development to support fundraising activities and implement a comprehensive annual and corporate giving program to meet their unrestricted funding goals.

Responsibilities
Support the Development team with the management of El Buen’s Annual Fund, including executing digital and direct mail appeals, peer to peer fundraisers, and special events
Conceptualize, plan, execute, and serve as operations manager for the following campaigns and funding strategies with the goal to solicit, renew, and upgrade donors: ¡Avanzando Futuros! Brunch Celebration, Amplify Austin, En el Juego: Back to School (B2S) Campaign, Community Health Worker Graduation, Collaborate with Development and Volunteer Engagement Manager (VEM) on El Buen’s Flagship Hands for Hope: Food Equity and Access Campaign to meet fundraising goal, Develop and manage fundraising plan including a working prospect list. Strategically working with DODC to meet unrestricted fundraising goals, Establish a recurring donor program, including levels and benefits, and recruitment of donors, Support the planning, growth, and execution of direct mail appeals (End of Year, Spring Appeal) in collaboration with the Development team, Collaborate with DVEM to secure volunteer relationships with Episcopal churches and schools, corporations and community partners to grow El Buen’s donor-volunteer pipeline
Oversee El Buen’s Corporate Membership Program and secure corporate funding diversify and grow unrestricted funding. This includes full-cycle relationship building—donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and renewal
Establish systems and procedures for pursuing corporate relationships
Perform prospect research on businesses to determine sponsorships, workplace giving partnerships, events, and collaborative efforts to raise funds
Project manager for corporate and partner drives including but not limited to Back to School and the Angel Tree holiday project
Engage corporate donors in volunteer opportunities in collaboration with DM
As a shared Development team responsibility, accurately update donor/funder records in the development database, including tracking moves management and funding decisions
Provide strategic leadership and supervision to the Development and Volunteer Engagement Manager
Oversee recruitment, retention, and professional development of staff in alignment with El Buen’s HR policies and procedures, ensuring the team reflects organizational values of equity, collaboration, and excellence
Conduct regular check-ins and annual performance evaluations, providing mentorship, clear direction, and opportunities for growth
Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and inclusiveness, encouraging teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement across the department
Attend scheduled Development team meetings to nurture team cohesiveness, planning and the division of responsibilities
Allocate staffing and resources effectively to meet program and organizational needs
Support and participate in the development of donor-centered content for social media, email, newsletters, radio and TV
Participate in networking events and give presentations on behalf of El Buen
Work with DODC to provide support for Development Committee meetings as requested
Create and provide regular fundraising reports to Executive Team and Development Committee
Participate in annual Development Strategic Planning and Annual Development Plan
Participate in emergency response operations as needed to address community disasters
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Four to Six (4-6) years of experience working in the fundraising office of a foundation, corporate giving program, non-profit organization, or large institution such as a university
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position
Experience growing unrestricted portfolios including strong corporate connections
Experience with annual giving or individual giving programs
Excellent writing skills, and proven ability to construct clear and compelling donor communications and proposals
Experience developing and monitoring budgets, submitting reports to funders and/or donors
Proficiency in the use of a personal computer, specifically Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge of fundraising practices, procedures, and philosophies
Experience with gift processing and database management preferred (Network for Good preferred)
Direct mail experience
Ability to work in a hands-on-environment with limited resources
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee, donor, benefactor, and constituent information
Computer literacy and knowledge of appropriate fundraising software required
Ability to develop and deliver fundraising reports and analyses
Highly efficient, resourceful, and flexible
A strategist who is adept at innovation, forward thinking, planning, prioritizing, multi-tasking, organizing and following through while remaining energetic and focused
Straightforward, self-motivated, and diplomatic -- sharing information readily, listening as well as giving advice and respecting the abilities of others
Energetic and willing to work hands-on in assisting with developing and executing a variety of fundraising activities
Interpersonal skills to relate to a diverse group of donors, volunteers and colleagues, including diplomacy and discretion
Proficiency with communication and email marketing tools and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
Preferred
Experience with gift processing and database management preferred (Network for Good preferred)
Proficiency with Adobe programs preferred (Acrobat, InDesign); some knowledge of website management preferred
