Faculty Psychologist – Emory Brain Health – Atlanta, GA

American Headache Society is seeking a faculty psychologist to join the Emory Brain Health and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. This role involves conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing tailored treatment plans, and providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help patients manage pain and stress.

Responsibilities

Conduct biopsychosocial assessments of headaches and co-occurring psychological disorders
Develop tailored treatment plans
Provide a full range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help patients manage pain and stress
Utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness therapies to reduce headache frequency and mitigate pain
Implement biofeedback and/or neurofeedback therapy for headache
Provide evidence-based interventions for psychological disorders that co-occur with headaches
Collaborate in interprofessional teamwork

Required

Strong background in clinical health psychology and integrated care with medically ill populations
Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited graduate program
APA accredited internship
At least one-year supervised postdoctoral training
Licensed or license eligible in Georgia
Board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology required within 7 years of starting this faculty position
Fundamental principles and practices of health psychology and pain psychology
Comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments of headaches and co-occurring psychological disorders
Evidence-based interventions (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness therapies) to reduce headache frequency, mitigate pain and its impact, improve functioning, and enhance quality of life
Biofeedback and/or neurofeedback therapy for headache
Evidence-based interventions for psychological disorders that co-occur with headaches (e.g., depression, anxiety, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, personality disorders, bipolar disorder)
Interprofessional teamwork and collaboration
