Responsibilities

Design and plan network communications systems

Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture

Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements

Conducts testing of network design

Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options

Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network

Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations

Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc

Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering science, or related discipline and minimum of 12 years of IT related experience is required

Five (5) years of additional IT related experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree

Must have experience architecting solutions for needs throughout the IC, including IP routing, addressing, IP Multicast, IP QOS, and IP encryptors

Demonstrated experience with WAN boundary integration and Red and Black WAN design

Ability to develop network architectures and work with customers to develop test plans and conduct testing of architecture as required

Ability to provide highly technical and specialized guidance and solutions to complex IT problems and manage work as defined by customer

Active/current TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required
