Staff Scientist
The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology is seeking a Staff Scientist to advance research on neural mechanisms related to memory, navigation, and cognition. This role involves collecting and analyzing brain recordings, creating custom analysis code, and collaborating with clinical and computational partners to enhance understanding of brain function.

Responsibilities
Designs, implements, and tests experimental protocols for human neuroscience research, including electrophysiological, computational, and statistical methods
Collects and analyzes intracranial recordings, identifies neural oscillations and traveling waves, and develops custom code and analytic pipelines to interrogate large-scale datasets
Interprets results and integrates findings with behavioral and cognitive measures, and will collaborate closely with clinicians, neuroscientists, and computational researchers across disciplines
Participates in grant applications and reports, co-author scientific manuscripts, and may mentor other members of the laboratory
Presents findings at scientific meetings and contributes to the peer review of manuscripts and proposals
Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information
Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research
Performs other related work as needed
Qualification
Required
PhD in related field
5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline

Preferred
Doctoral degree in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, psychology, or a related field
Developing and implementing empirical and computational protocols for human neuroscience research
Background in the analysis of intracranial electrophysiological data and large-scale behavioral datasets
Assisting in the training of junior researchers, a strong publication record, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research
Supervisory experience
Knowledge in human neuroscience, electrophysiology, and cognitive science
Knowledge in computational methods and statistical tools for the analysis of large-scale neural data
Knowledge of research regulatory policies and procedures
