Responsibilities
Perform structural load calculations and bridge plan / specifications development
Oversee geometric layout and quantity development
Check design calculations / construction cost estimates / plan development produced by other engineers
Typical bridge projects include precast concrete girder (pre-stressed and/or post-tensioned) and steel plate or steel box girder for highway, waterway, and rail projects
Strong technical skills in Engineering analysis and design combined with a proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects
Perform as a Technical Specialist or Task Leader on large projects and supervise Junior Engineers in the performance of engineering tasks
Report preparation and frequent client interaction
Qualification
Required
BSCE required
Active Virginia PE licensure required
10+ years of bridge design experience required
Strong technical skills in Engineering analysis and design combined with a proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects
Perform structural load calculations and bridge plan / specifications development

MSCE in Structural Engineering preferred
VDOT project experience strongly preferred
PM experience beneficial
Prior Supervisory experience (team, office, etc.) a plus
Extensive experience in all aspects of bridge design projects
Experience with Bridge Inspection is a plus, but not required
Knowledge of MicroStation is preferred
OpenBridge Designer is a plus
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
Ability to work with various teams – internal and external - as required
