Senior Structural Engineer
TERRA Engineering, Ltd. is an award-winning global leader in green infrastructure, seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team. The role involves advising the engineering team, developing design concepts, performing inspections, and overseeing project requirements to ensure compliance with necessary codes.

Responsibilities
Advise engineering team/performs engineering computations to analyze and design structural members to ensure applicability with the necessary codes
Develop design concepts and alternatives, evaluates and studies, establishes design criteria, and recommends solutions
Perform inspections and investigations of structures including bridges, buildings and earth retaining structures
Approve alternative methods for construction procedures or changes in field
Develop and meet project requirements for schedule, budget and construction cost estimates
Prepare proposals for new work, and develops project scope, schedule and budget
Interact with clients and represent the company
Provide mentorship and training to structural staff
Oversee and coordinate the technical/structural aspects of the project
Advise and oversee the engineering team in preparing design calculations, cost estimates, and performs field visits as necessary
Advise and oversee the engineering team in preparing structural engineering contract documents including plans, specifications, cost estimates and other deliverables
Coordinate with other disciplines and designers, to reach agreement about designs and to achieve project goals
Conduct Quality Control/Quality Assurance on projects
Perform other duties as required by Department Managers and Leadership
Qualification
Required
B.S. or M.S in Structural Engineering or related fields (Required)
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience (Required)
An Illinois Structural Engineer (SE) License (Required)
Experience in structural engineering standards, codes, concepts, design criteria and procedures within the structural engineering industry
The ability to exercise precise engineering judgment
Strong computer skills for various software programs for structural analysis, preparation of plans, specifications, reports and other project deliverables
Excellent communication skills and ability write technical reports
The ability to develop stellar relationship with clients to ensure their satisfaction
The ability to effectively present recommendations and results
