Responsibilities
Assist the registered nurses by assuming responsibility and accountability for direct and indirect patient care
Assist with activities, personal care, comfort measures, maintenance of a safe and clean environment, and certain test/procedures done to a specific patient population under the direction and supervision of an RN
Assist in covering unit secretary duties
Support the nursing and medical staff in an effort to provide optimum patient outcomes
Qualification
Required
High school graduate or equivalent
Basic Life Support certification prior to start date, or class to be taken at OSH within 60 days free of charge
Zero to six months prior experience as a Nurse Aide in a healthcare environment, or completion of a Nurse Aide or EMT training program preferred
Cognitive, technical and interpersonal skills required to deliver direct and indirect care under the direction of a RN
Cooperation and strong 'team' focus required
Must be knowledgeable and demonstrate competency in current caregiver practices, which are unit/age specific
