Responsibilities
Review customer technical specification, Valve data sheet and select the valve model from existing valve data bank or design new valve. Is primary individual responsible for technical performance of product
Review and comment on customer requested design changes if they have any
Assist and advise the Chief Engineer regarding technical information pertaining to customer specifications on new orders
Prepare detail component drawings, bill of material, test procedure, test report, OMM and perform other support functions in order to meet deadlines, commitments and manufacturing. Whenever possible, modify existing parts to speed process
Prepare and release all the drawings and other documents required prior to formal release to production
Produce operability calculations to ensure compliance with customer specifications/requests. This is accomplished by static analysis of the valve, keeping in mind force balance, considering pressure forces, spring forces, coil forces, and seismic forces
Must have excellent analytical skills and be able prepare ASME code Design Report using Mathcad software
Prepare and release commercial grade dedication (CGD) documents defining critical characteristics of valve components
During the production stage, as required, provide support in such areas as MRR’s (material rejection report), repairs, assembly, and testing operations
Perform liaison having to do with providing technical information to purchasing, production, and any other support departments on matters dealing with procurement of special material, specifications, available sources, subcontracting, and troubleshooting
Support other engineers in groups, quality engineers, test engineers and production lab personnel on valve design so that they can become familiar with the design expectations and documentation of the unit
Work within the team to ensure accurate and timely response to customer requirements
Performs additional duties as needed
Keep well informed on new developments in the engineering field through contact with educational institutions, professional societies, manufacturers and trade shows, perusal of texts, technical papers, journals, and periodicals
