Controls Engineer – Automation Systems

KYOCERA SENCO Industrial Tools, Inc. is a trusted leader in designing and manufacturing industrial tools and fastening solutions. They are seeking a Controls Engineer to join their Automation Equipment Development Team, responsible for designing and programming control systems and optimizing automated systems in their production facility.

Responsibilities

Design and develop new machine control systems (robotic, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and vision systems) from concept through implementation
Update, troubleshoot, and continuously improve existing control systems, including ladder logic, relay logic, motor controls, and operator interfaces
Create and maintain accurate documentation: schematics, panel layouts, program files, and component specifications
Implement and support industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP) for system connectivity
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver customized automation solutions and support continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in system simulation, testing, and validation activities

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (Associate degree with significant experience considered)
5+ years of experience in industrial controls and automation, including PLC and HMI programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Unitronics)
Strong Applications Engineering background with experience in designing and implementing tailored automation solutions
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for control system design
Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset
Ability to bend, lift, push, pull, and stand for prolonged periods (up to 75 lbs)
Willingness to travel up to 5% of the calendar year
Must be able to commute to the Cincinnati headquarters regularly
