Responsibilities

Install, test, commission, and troubleshoot high-voltage substations (69kV–500kV)
Conduct testing and diagnostics of power transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protection relays, CTs, PTs, and other substation equipment
Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and electrical crews to ensure proper installation and commissioning
Perform protective relay testing, relay logic verification, and SCADA system integration
Conduct insulation resistance testing, power factor testing, SF6 gas analysis, contact resistance testing, and thermal imaging
Identify, diagnose, and resolve electrical faults and system abnormalities during substation construction and energization
Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, ANSI, NETA, and OSHA standards
Assist in the development of testing procedures, documentation, and reporting for all testing and commissioning activities
Maintain up-to-date as-built drawings, schematics, and equipment test records
Support field teams in implementing safe work practices and adhering to company and client safety policies
Travel to various project sites as needed
Perform other job-related duties as requested by management

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
NETA Level II or III Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Proficiency in electrical testing equipment such as Omicron, Doble, Megger, and Fluke
Strong understanding of relay protection, power systems, and high-voltage electrical equipment
Ability to read and interpret substation schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay logic
Knowledge of NETA testing standards and procedures
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in the field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and relay testing software
Willingness to travel and work outdoors at remote job sites

Preferred

Prior experience in substation testing, commissioning, or maintenance is preferred
Experience with SCADA integration, substation automation, and relay programming
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
Previous experience working with utilities, EPC firms, or substation construction contractors
