Five Star Bank is an independent, high-performing community bank seeking to develop the next generation of financial services professionals. As a Mortgage Summer Associate, you will support the Mortgage team with loan processing, customer service, and compliance activities while contributing to sales initiatives through lead generation and relationship-building efforts.

Responsibilities

Assist with mortgage loan application processing, including document collection and verification

Assist in generating mortgage leads through client outreach, community engagement, and referral follow-ups, while supporting the sales team in promoting loan products and cultivating relationships with prospective borrowers

Support the review of loan files to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements

Help coordinate communication between borrowers, loan officers, and underwriting teams

Assist in preparing loan disclosures and closing documentation

Contribute to pipeline management and tracking of loan status updates

Participate in quality control and audit activities related to mortgage lending

Support special projects aimed at improving mortgage operations and customer experience

Required

Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, or a related field

Candidates must be available to work a hybrid work model, 40 hours per week for the duration of the program starting in June

Occasional travel within corporate footprint (Buffalo and Rochester) will also be required

At least 1 year in one or more club(s), volunteerism efforts, or other activities outside of the classroom

Sales Acumen – Understanding mortgage products and effectively communicating their value to potential borrowers

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Interest in mortgage lending, real estate finance, or banking operations

Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and attention to detail

Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to learn in a fast-paced environment
