The Vomela Companies is a full-service visual communications company seeking creative and intellectual thinkers. The Prepress Operator will coordinate the preparation of files for print, ensuring accuracy in layout and design while communicating with customers and sales staff to meet prepress needs.

Printing

Responsibilities

• Percentage of creative hours vs. non-creative hours

• Increase of creative knowledge – learning new technologies

• Accuracy of layouts, and printing tiles

• Communicates with the customers and the sales staff to understand the prepress needs of the customer

• Provides a format for quality control that is technically superior to that of our competitors

• Interfaces with CAD and Estimating Departments to provide preflight solutions that focus on both cost and production

• Supervises re-creation of existing parts from competitors and coordinates this with project planning and sales to assure parts are manufactural

• Supervises transfer of files from design and CAD to prepress in order to ensure that prototypes are accurately produced to represent how they would be in manufacturing

• Acts as resource to digital printing when product acceptability is in question. May communicate with customers on technical issues on their behalf

• Provides an effective interface between customers, sales and production

• Other duties as assigned

Required

BS or BA degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture or related field preferred, or Technical/Trade School education with the equivalent in work experience and training

Equivalent combination of education and experience

Five or more years' experience in creative design with emphasis in computer design, and design project coordination

Must be experienced in four color process prepress output

Must understand digital printing and the generation of digital-printing artwork

Must be conversant in CAD/CAM applications and Design Software

Must be able to provide prepress specifications for the construction of production parts

Must be able to supervise the set-up of digitally printed jobs

Must be a good communicator and able to interface with customers and other departments at multiple levels

Must be a good listener and willing to provide what the customer and the company needs are with solutions to problems
