Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is a strategic and trusted insurance partner providing a broad range of commercial property, casualty, and specialty insurance coverages. They are seeking an experienced Casualty Underwriter at the AVP or VP level to expand and develop new business opportunities, establish broker and customer relationships, and maintain a profitable renewal book.

Responsibilities

Develop and grow the Casualty book of business which includes primary general liability, lead umbrella, and excess liability for various classes (e.g. General Casualty, Energy, Transportation, and Products)
Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships in the Western Region
Work closely with loss control, claims, and legal teams to evaluate risk and provide solutions to customers
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity
Maintain a profitable renewal book

Required

Minimum 8 years Casualty underwriting or broking experience
Strong underwriting acumen
Existing broker & customer relationships
Ability to work both independently and to collaborate with all levels and disciplines
Ability to work within a fast paced, customer focused & team environment
Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation and presentation experience
