Responsibilities

Responsible for the written statement of philosophy and goals, and assures that the program has written curriculum plans that are age appropriate, meet the needs of individual children, and reflect the program’s philosophy and goals
Responsible for supporting the accreditation standards of the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, Massachusetts Preschool Standards and Guidelines, NAFCC, QRIS, Core Competencies, or other relevant standards; The Program Director will initiate the self-study and application for accreditation, and, once achieved, will maintain accreditation
Responsible to see that child screening evaluation is conducted regularly, using approved web-based tools
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all licensing and CCAB requirements, including, but not limited to, staff qualifications and schedules, child and staff files, staff training and development, IPDP’s, PQ Registry and monthly staff meetings
Responsible to interview staff for hire, provide appropriate orientation and training, evaluate staff performance, and set goals for staff development
Responsible to create a positive work climate in the program, modeling the CCAB mission statement to 'respect the dignity of all people', developing teamwork, and advocating for staff when appropriate
Assures that children are under proper adult supervision at all times
Responsible for adherence to all applicable Department of EEC, CACFP, and local health procedures, regulations, and record keeping requirements
Responsible for regular inspection of the playground and classroom equipment, or family childcare homes if applicable, to detect and mitigate hazards. If transportation is provided, the Program Director also assures that vehicles are inspected, licensed, supplied with age appropriate child restraints, and maintained in good repair
Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all relevant reports and records pertaining to the program
Responsible for the collection of fees and the control of receivables
Responsible to monitor revenue and expenses, and to take corrective action to conform to program budget
Responsible to contribute to strategic planning, including budget preparation and capital projects, identifying potential program improvements and funding sources
Other duties as assigned
Follow through with all Agency directives and projects in a professional and positive manner, respecting supervision and constructive criticism
Model the CCAB mission statement to 'respect the dignity of all people'
Attend all required meetings and trainings, which may involve evening hours
Demonstrate a willingness to work with colleagues as a team player
Represent the Agency in a professional manner to all segments of the public
Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct and professional responsibility, including maintaining confidentiality, to children, families, staff, colleagues, and the community
Responsible for having a plan for her/his own professional development, staying current in the field through attendance at workshops and conferences, reading relevant literature, and/or taking courses
Meet EEC requirements for professional development hours completed each year, and enter them in the PQ Registry under the appropriate Core Competency
The ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pound

Required

Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in child care, human or social services
Physical, mental and emotional ability to accomplish the job, including evacuating the building in an emergency, with or without corrective devices and accommodations, including the ability to read and write, hear the conversational voice, to speak and be understood
Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office
BA in early Childhood or related field
EEC Director certification (Director I or II, as applicable)
