Responsibilities

Hand calculations for evaluation of simple structural problems

FEA Model generation in ANSYS and/or Abaqus

Defining and applying boundary conditions appropriate for each analysis

Model execution to assess component life including LCF, Creep, and Modal analysis of gas turbine rotating and static hardware

Post-processing model results

Ability to make CAD changes to iterate with other disciplines and improve designs

Results documentation

Mentoring younger engineers

Qualification

Required

BS, MS or PhD degree in Mechanical, Aero Space, or Aeronautical Engineering

5+ years of experience in gas turbine component structural analysis

General knowledge of turbomachinery component design, assemblies, and manufacturing

Experience in CAD modeling

Strong analytical decision-making and organizational skills

Working knowledge of various manufacturing processes, general machining and fabrication

Experience with FEA software preferred (ANSYS/Abaqus)

Experience presenting technical topics to peers, higher management, and customers

Candidate must be effective in communicating and decision-making

Candidate must have effective organizational skills

Candidate must have the ability to work multiple assignments effectively

Technical computer capability required (C++, VBA, etc.)

Travel is required on an as needed basis
