Early Childhood Program Substitute Teacher

St. Anne's-Belfield School is a historic independent school dedicated to nurturing students' holistic development. They are seeking a compassionate Substitute Teacher for the Early Childhood Program to implement lesson plans and foster a positive learning environment for students.

Primary/Secondary Education

Responsibilities

Follow and implement lesson plans prepared by the primary classroom teacher, ensuring continuity of learning for all students
Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment, maintaining order and promoting positive behavior to support a safe and productive learning space
Provide individual and group instruction and support to meet students' varied learning needs. Address student questions and provide feedback as necessary
Accurately record daily attendance and submit any necessary documentation, including assignments or reports, to the regular teacher and/or administrative staff
Collaborate with teaching assistants, grade-level teams, and administration as needed. Provide notes on the day's events or progress for the returning teacher

Required

Relevant coursework and/or experience working with children in an educational setting required
Prior experience working with children, preferably in a school environment
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to follow detailed lesson plans and adapt as necessary
Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and administrators
Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive approach to student engagement
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
Occasionally required to lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred
Valid state teaching certification preferred; substitute teaching certification or permit may be acceptable based on state requirements
