Responsibilities

Takes on call shift responsibilities as required by the department

Charges appropriately for all supplies used for procedure and utilizes appropriate exam codes

Prepares equipment and supplies

Selects appropriate imaging parameters

Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment

Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary

Reviews patient history and physician's orders

Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation

Maintains MRI Safety in accordance with safety recommendations outlined by the American College of Radiology and hospital policy

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)

Analyzes acquisition parameters and resulting sequences and identifies issues with the quality of images

Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and/or repeating images/sequences in conjunction with interpreting physicians and standard protocols

When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice

Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate

Must be registered in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registered as a Technologist (ARMRIT)- Advance Registry MRI Technology within one calendar year of hire

Graduate of an accredited imaging program

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
