Dean of Students
NOLA Public Schools is dedicated to providing high-quality education and fostering student success. The Dean of Students is responsible for creating a positive school environment, managing student behavior, and implementing school policies to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere. This role also involves collaboration with educators and parents to promote student engagement and well-being.

Responsibilities
Promote a positive and inclusive school culture
Implement programs and initiatives to enhance student engagement and morale
Enforce school rules and policies
Investigate and address incidents of student misconduct
Implement disciplinary measures when necessary, ensuring fairness and consistency
Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement behavior management strategies
Implements behavioral interventions and conducts progress monitoring
Provide support and resources to teachers for managing classroom behavior
Conduct counseling or guidance sessions with students to address behavioral issues
Provides direct support to teachers in the implementation of the PBIS model
Mediate conflicts between students and, if necessary, involve parents or guardians
Work with teachers and administrators to address conflicts among staff members
Conducts behavioral screening of students to establish the three tiers of the Response to Intervention Discipline Model
Works closely with the Social Worker to ensure direct behavioral support for students in Tier three of the Response to Intervention Model
Attends all training on the PBIS Model and conducts in-service training for the school site staff on the PBIS Model
Provides consultation to teachers on appropriate behavioral strategies to use with students demonstrating negative classroom behaviors
Generates reports involving academics, attendance, and discipline
Monitor student attendance and work with school staff to address chronic absenteeism
Triangulates and analyzes data from reports and present finding to administrators and faculty
Uses Power School, PLASCO, Microsoft Office Suite, Performance Series, INFORM, or similar platform to track student’s performance and progress
Analyzes data from reports on student discipline and makes recommendations for interventions; accommodations and modifications to improve behavior outcomes for students
Participates as an active member of the PBIS team
Assists the administration in implementing all Board Policies
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
Assists in the development and implementation of behavioral accommodations for students in class settings
Assists teachers in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and in developing Behavior Management Plans
Serves as a member of the Student Assistance Team (SAT) as needed
Stays updated on best practices in behavior management and discipline
Attends relevant workshops and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge
Performs other related jobs as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in implementing and providing behavioral interventions and direct support for students using a proven Positive Behavior Support Model
Excellent problem solving skills to analyze issues and create actions plans
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships with students, parents, and staff
Knowledge of educational policies, regulations, and best practices
Familiarity with crisis intervention procedures
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture
Preferred
Master's degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field preferred
