Mechanical Engineer, Sr.

Centrus Energy Corp. is focused on supporting the Centrifuge Project and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to assist in various engineering tasks. The role involves designing and troubleshooting high vacuum systems, helium leak detection equipment, and managing multiple priorities to ensure project goals are met within schedule and budget.

Responsibilities

Assist in designing, building, and troubleshooting the following
High vacuum systems
Helium leak detection equipment
Composite parts and assemblies
Machined parts and assemblies
Assist in design and analysis of structural and dynamic systems
Design manufacturing equipment as needed for manufacturing activities
Develop specifications for fabrication materials and equipment
Assist in the creation, review, and approval of engineering packages to be used for fabrication
Establish procedures for assembly and repair of fabricated components
Drive process improvement activities for internal activities and external suppliers
Manage multiple priorities and ensure that deliverables are met within schedule and budget
Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements
Contribute to cross functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, operations, testing, quality and purchasing

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, or Aerospace Engineering
3-5 years of experience in a professional environment
Experience with lean manufacturing
Project Management experience
3-5 years CAD experience (SolidWorks experience a plus)
Experience using FEA (Ansys experience is a plus)
Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE Q-level or DOD TS security clearance
Centrifuge design, test, and/or manufacturing experience is a plus
Experience with QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems
This position requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance
Candidates for positions requiring a security clearance are required to be tested for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR 707.4 prior to an offer of employment being made
In addition, once employed, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol
This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government
Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required

Preferred

A Masters may be used to substitute for experience
Masters degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, or Aerospace Engineering
