Markel is a Fortune 500 company that operates in insurance, reinsurance, and investment sectors globally. They are seeking a Senior Underwriter for Management Liability to underwrite new business and renewals, while also participating in special projects and supporting relationships with significant agents and brokers in the Northeast region of the US.

Responsibilities

Assigned larger and more important agents/brokers

Utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges

Understand state laws, including cancellation and non-renewal, within assigned territory to properly transact business within each state

Knowledgeable in coverage forms and policy language; appropriate utilization of forms and exclusions

Assist with resolving premium audit disputes within assigned agents/brokers

Able to provide coaching to others

Required

Bachelor's degree preferred

5+ years' experience underwriting management liability coverages

Industry designations such as RPLU are a plus

Experience in wholesale distribution channel

Strong analytical skills including ability to analyze and understand policy language

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and timelines

Demonstrated sales and marketing skills including the ability to utilize data to organize efforts

Ability to coordinate efforts with support staff to maximize overall productivity

Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel & Teams

Up to 25% travel

US Work Authorization required
