Intermediate Designer / Architect
Blair + Mui Dowd Architects is a medium-sized architectural firm in New York City specializing in programming, planning, and design of clinical, educational, research, and community facilities. They are currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic Intermediate Designer / Architect to work on a range of projects from master planning to complex healthcare and laboratory projects for nationally recognized institutions.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with, and lead a team of designers in all phases of small, medium, and large-scale projects, under the direction of a Project Manager or Principal
Research and develop architectural design concepts that match the client and firm’s aesthetic, functional goals, and budget
Coordination with clients and running project meetings
Design and develop presentation drawings, construction documents, and all project related materials including administrative responsibilities
Field survey & existing condition documentation, as well as general construction observation and administration activities; Ability to travel preferred
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years experience in Laboratory, Healthcare, or Institutional work through all phases of design
BArch or MArch degree from an Accredited Architecture program or foreign equivalent
Extensive experience in master planning, programming and all phases of design including Construction Documents and Construction Administration
Strong interest in architecture and belief in environmental responsibility; LEED Accreditation a plus
Capability and confidence in leading a team through all phases of design and construction
Strong organizational abilities & ability to effectively handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Excellent written and communication skills, including ability to prepare clear, informative presentation materials with strong attention to detail
Excellent intrapersonal skills including presentations and technical conversations with design team, faculty, staff, leadership, architects, engineers, and building owners
Graphic skills and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office; Ajera & Microsoft Projects a plus
Strong understanding of building codes including FGI
Legal working status in the U.S
Preferred
Healthcare, laboratory, and education experience a plus
Ability to travel preferred
Rendering and visualization skills a plus
