Sr. Satellite Policy Manager (Starlink)
SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars and is leveraging its experience to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. The Sr. Satellite Policy Manager will drive SpaceX’s regulatory and policy strategy to ensure regulations support the provision of this groundbreaking service, focusing on international regulatory engagement and policy development.

Responsibilities
Lead international regulatory engagement and policy development toward successful outcomes on accelerated timelines
Advocate to optimize prospective satellite and telecoms regulatory frameworks and policy environments in alignment with SpaceX business objectives
Develop and advocate for broadband and spectrum policies that will further SpaceX’s business objectives and Starlink’s global success
Represent and promote the company’s positions before international regulatory agencies, regulators, legislatures, and regional organizations
Draft pleadings, letters, and other advocacy pieces to promote SpaceX’s policy positions
Research and advise the Starlink team regarding other relevant policy issues
Provide strategic regulatory advice and advocacy support to business development efforts, which may include:
Opportunities for regional/national partnerships
Global satellite expansion plans in support of the business strategy for new satellite market requirements and new service offerings initiatives
Advise the Starlink team on the laws, regulations, and policies that impact the business
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
4+ years of experience working in technology policy
4+ years of experience working with government agencies and policies
Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time
Willingness to work weekends and extended hours as needed
This position is based in Washington, DC and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred
Expert knowledge of telecommunications business and regulatory issues in Europe, the Middle East and/or Asia
Professional fluency in French, Arabic, or Portuguese
Strong knowledge of broadband, ISP, and/or satellite industry practices
Strong understanding of broadband policy
Strong understanding of spectrum use and policies
JD or foreign equivalent from an accredited law school
