Research Fellow - Pharmacology & Ophthalmology

Responsibilities
Develop and apply cell culture models of retinal fibrosis and retinal degenerative diseases
Utilize molecular biology, biochemistry, and imaging techniques to study disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets
Participate in the collection, processing, and cataloging of clinical samples in collaboration with Ophthalmology colleagues
Contribute to grant applications, manuscript preparation, and presentations at national and international meetings
Mentor graduate students and research staff in experimental design, data analysis, and laboratory techniques
Engage in collaborative projects across The Departments of Pharmacology and Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic
Qualification
Required
MD or PhD in a relevant field
Experience in cell culture models
Knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques
Experience with imaging techniques
Ability to collect, process, and catalog clinical samples
Experience in grant applications and manuscript preparation
Ability to mentor graduate students and research staff
Strong collaborative skills
Enthusiasm for working at the intersection of basic science and clinical research
Preferred
Experience in translational research
Skills in experimental design
Familiarity with advanced technologies in vision science
Interest in pursuing an independent academic or industry career in Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, or related fields
