Amphibious Ship Design Junior Electrical/Machinery Control Systems Engineer
Reliability & Performance Technologies (R&P) is a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. They are seeking a Junior Electrical and Machinery Control Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Navy’s Amphibious Warship design team by providing technical support and coordinating engineering activities.

Responsibilities
Provides technical support to the LPD Machinery SEM Lead on electrical distribution and control systems including but not limited to power generation, electrical distribution and machinery control
Provide general engineering/technical support for concept studies, feasibility studies, independent design reviews, In-service ship design and engineering activities, and shipboard installation support
Assist in development, review, and update of technical sections of the Requests for Proposal (RFP) the Navy is generating for solicitation to shipyards
Assist the programmatic and technical authority to implement DoD, SECNAV, OPNAV, and NAVSEA environmental and system safety requirements and policies
Review Contractor delivered electrical and machinery controls products/CDRLs and provide feedback on adequacy, gaps, and issues
Provide comprehensive, detailed, and timely communications and reports to all stakeholders
Research, develop, coordinate, draft, and review technical documentation for new ship procurements as required
Review, maintain, and make recommendations with regard to engineering plans, program records, technical manuals, design histories, design configurations, databases, regulatory body, and other documents
Assess shipboard requirements and provide recommended engineering design and integration solutions, evaluate and provide inputs to shipbuilding contract documentation, and conduct engineering reviews of Shipbuilder products to ensure accuracy and compliance with the shipbuilding contract design
Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for compliance with technical scope and assess engineering projections with cost and labor estimates
Plan, coordinate and participate in Program, Ship Design, and Shipbuilder meetings and briefings
Provide technical coordination between the Ship Program Manager, SEA 05, ISEAs, SSGC, Shipbuilder and their various OEMs, and other shipbuilding personnel
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical or marine
Minimum of 1-year professional experience in electrical, or marine engineering or relevant equivalent experience
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred
Experience with applicable codes and standards such as ABS NVR, OSHA, and NFPA
