Sr. Propulsion Engineer, Raptor Avionics (Interconnects)

Responsibilities

Own full lifecycle of interconnect design, including technical reviews, trade studies, manufacturing/manufacturability, qualification testing, product release and integration
Responsible for harness BOM, component selection and routing solutions using 3D CAD (Siemens NX)
Collect and document requirements to communicate to stakeholders through data sheets, schematics, instruction manuals and other product documentation
Perform analysis and physical testing of harnessing with respect to thermal, loads, vibration, and shock to ensure full qualification for flight & reuse
Champion avionics integration process simplicity and reliability with engine and vehicle design peers
Investigate failures, document findings and drive corrective actions

Required

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
5+ years of experience in design focused roles
2+ years of experience with wire harness 3D design and wiring diagrams
Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones
Must be willing to travel < 20%
Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg

Preferred

Master's degree in mechanical engineering or other technical field
Experience with implementation and on-vehicle debugging of low level hardware buses such as CAN and Ethernet
Experience designing mechanical assemblies and interconnects for harsh environments
Experience designing or manufacturing hermetic electrical feedthroughs, like connector
Data analysis experience in Python, MATLAB or Minitab
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
