Responsibilities
Develops economical, technically feasible, reliable substation physical and control designs with no supervision and guidance
Provides technical management of multiple substation projects and prioritization of work, working collaboratively with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders
Ensures quality control on assigned projects by providing construction support as needed, including coordination with construction forces and job site inspections
Provides coordination and communication with other departments in completing procurement tasks on projects with no supervision or guidance
Assists and guides other departments in the solution of non-standard substation design problems
Provides accurate cost estimates for use in company budgeting procedures such that cash flow requirements are identified
Provides input for development of detailed project schedules and update project management system to reflect the status of projects assigned
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company
Performs related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
At least 10 years hands-on substation design experience, preferably in a utility environment
Bachelor's degree from accredited school in electrical engineering
8 years industry experience as a practicing engineer
Must be a licensed PE. If no PE license, must have 10+ years as a practicing engineer
Demonstrated knowledge of substation/control engineering principles and knowledge of other phases of engineering
Areas of cost control, budgets, finance, and accounting with technical experiences in cost analysis
Skills such as analytical, interpersonal and communication with company personnel, customers, and regulatory agencies
Multi-tasking, leadership, research, analysis, project management, problem-solving and decision-making
Preferred
Highly Preferred that they have PE license
Bachelor's degree (Preferred)
Substation Design Engineering: 8 years (Preferred)
Professional Engineer Certification Preferred (Preferred)
Ability to Commute: Reno, NV 89511 (Preferred)
Ability to Relocate: Reno, NV 89511: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
