Responsibilities

Assigns responsibilities for investigating and verifying financial status and reputation of prospective customers applying for credit, preparing documents to substantiate findings, and approves or rejects loan applications
Design, implement, and regularly update the credit policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and risk appetite
Develops credit information and implementation of policies, and procedures for use by lending officers or committees in making lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans; prepares spreadsheet and financial information; prepares summary to present facts concerning credit worthiness
Assures periodic reviews of all credit, loan and collateral files to ensure that information is current; updated analysis of borrowers' financial position; loan review memos
Decisions loan requests for loan officers and banking center managers who do not have high enough loan authority
Advises loan officers of any material changes in borrowers' financial status which may increase the credit risk to the Bank
Maintain control over current accounts watching for developing problems and keeping loan officers informed
Assists loan officers and others in establishing and maintaining the proper documents relating to the perfections of the Bank's lien position on loans secured by various collateral
Serves as chairperson of the Officer Loan Committee
Maintains watch list and assigns specific reviews for doubtful accounts
Performs quarterly analysis of the allowance for credit losses
Reviews monthly reports from Collection Department for accuracy
Maintains an awareness and understanding of compliance issues and regulation
Establishes credit limitations on customer accounts and handles special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment
Audits delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectible to ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad debt status to account
Monitor the performance and quality of the loan portfolio, analyze trends, and report findings to senior management and the board of directors. Regular reporting includes but is not limited to credit risk, portfolio performance, and policy adherence
Lead, mentor, and develop Credit Administration staff, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth

Required

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
Minimum of 10 years of related work experience and/or training
Equivalent combination of education and experience
