Planning Engineer, Interconnection Studies
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines. They are seeking a Planning Engineer, Interconnection Studies to coordinate, perform, and review technical studies related to the interconnection of proposed new generation, transmission, and load facilities to the New York State transmission system.

Responsibilities
Reviews proposed project facilities including the conceptual design for interconnection of the project to the NYS transmission system and associated modeling data provided for the project
Prepares base cases to be used in interconnection studies
Provides technical coordination with others involved in the performance of interconnection studies including the project developers, transmission owners, consultants, etc
Performs or reviews the technical analysis (power flow, short circuit, and/or stability analysis) for interconnection studies
Evaluates and identifies any system upgrade facilities and/or system deliverability upgrades required for proposed projects and develops cost estimates for the identified upgrades
Prepares and/or reviews interconnection study reports and associated documentation
Leads and/or participates in project study meetings
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
2 years of experience working as an Engineer in the energy industry
Experience in PSS/E software
Experience in Python software
