Staff R&D Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities
Drive technical design and development to launch new products timely, coordinating with both internal production and external suppliers to ensure quality and manufacturability
Ensure technical aspects of projects are defined and completed, working with project manager to define schedules and resolve project roadblocks
Supervise prototyping and testing with some hands-on support as needed and help review test reports for the completion and accuracy of information
Drive ASME compliance for piping and pressure vessels and promote standard adoption in new applications, and research the latest in industry advancements
Define testing protocols and supervise completion of internal testing, external certifications, and mentor junior engineers
Lead Design Engineering support of supplier development efforts to meet design, quality, and productivity requirements
Work to continuously improve processes, improve collaboration, reduce risk, and reduce product development cycle time
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
8+ years of relevant engineering experience required
Ability to design components and assemblies using 3D CAD system SolidWorks
Up to 10% domestic travel required
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
2+ years of project management and/or leading teams experience highly preferred
Knowledge of selection of fluid distribution components, electrical schematics, heat transfer
Refrigeration or material compatibility experience is a plus
Knowledge of ASME BPV design and applications, as well as AWS and ISO standards, ASME Section IX or equivalent certification is highly preferred
Experience in design and failure analysis tools such as DFMEA, DFM, etc
