Senior Payroll Supervisor
Confidential Company is a global manufacturer of specialty materials used in a variety of industrial and consumer applications. They are seeking a Senior Payroll Supervisor to lead payroll operations across multiple U.S. sites, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness for both hourly and salaried employees.
Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple sites, including hourly, union, and salaried staff across various states. This includes weekly and bi-weekly payroll runs
Oversee time and attendance integration with payroll systems, ensuring accurate capture of shifts, overtime, and differential pay
Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, wage laws, and union contract provisions
Coordinate payroll funding, reconciliations, and general ledger interfaces with Finance
Supervise year-end activities such as W-2 preparation, tax filings, and audits
Oversee payroll and timekeeping systems, including ADP, Kronos, Workday, and UKG to ensure data integrity and reliability
Collaborate with HRIS and IT on system enhancements and integrations
Implement best practices in automation, reporting, and workflow management
Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and union contract requirements
Serve as the primary contact for internal and external payroll audits
Stay informed of legislative and regulatory changes affecting manufacturing payroll operations
Partner with HR on employee relations, benefits deductions, and union negotiations as they relate to payroll
Work closely with Finance and Accounting to support labor cost reporting and forecasting
Provide expert guidance to plant managers and HR business partners on payroll policies and union-related pay practices
Develop and implement payroll strategies that support the company’s manufacturing operations, labor models, and workforce dynamics
Recommend payroll initiatives focused on automation, accuracy, and scalability
Establish standardized processes and KPIs for payroll accuracy, timeliness, and service quality
Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations to align payroll practices with business objectives and collective bargaining agreements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field
8+ years of progressive payroll experience, with 3–5 years in a leadership capacity within a manufacturing or industrial setting
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, labor laws, and union payroll practices
Experience managing payroll for large hourly workforces and multiple locations
Expertise in payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Kronos, or UKG
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of operating in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and continuous improvement
Preferred
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
