UI Software Engineer

Responsibilities

Collaborate with leading experts in government, academia, and industry to address some of the most complex challenges in modern aviation
Contribute to critical research programs at premier facilities such as the William J. Hughes Technical Center, where cutting-edge simulations and testing shape the National Airspace System (NAS)
Bridge research and operational application, ensuring innovative solutions are practical, safe, and ready for deployment across the aviation ecosystem
Conduct and guide research and development on technologies supporting the NAS, airport infrastructure, and air traffic management
Lead or contribute to design, testing, and innovation initiatives for next-generation aviation systems

Required

U.S. Citizenship Required
Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
A minimum of 5 years of experience working as a software engineer focused on user interfaces
Experience working with front-end technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript and CSS, along with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, JQuery, etc
Experience working with back-end technologies such as Java and Python, especially for the development of APIs, web services, and web applications
Experience with UX design, user-centric design concepts, and accessibility
Prior experience working in an Agile software development environment
Experience with professional software development practices, such as source code management, code reviews, and testing
A demonstrated ability to pick up new programming languages and technologies quickly
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player
Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred

Exposure to FAA programs or NAS systems
Advanced knowledge of aviation systems, UAS integration, AI applications, or satellite navigation systems
Familiarity with FAA research environments or facilities like the William J. Hughes Technical Center
Familiarity with FAA regulations, national airspace policies, or international aviation standards (e.g., ICAO)
Experience with front-end testing tools, such as Cypress, Jest, and Selenium
Experience with AWS development, including EC2, API Gateway, etc
